United we stand, divided we fall

Another incident that happened this morning.

I had just stepped out of office and was walking towards the race course entrance, pretty close by to the Mahalaxmi station.

The roads are narrow with broad footpaths always causing a bottleneck. To further worsen this situation, there are trucks and school buses (Aroon Travels) that are parked royally in the "NO PARKING" zone. This screws the situation so bad in the peak hours, that you end up spending nowhere less than 15 minutes just to cross that 100 meters.

There is a committee called as the Mahalaxmi Bus Association (or something close to that).

I have reported multiple complaints about them to the traffic police at the signal as well as online. But as I expected, nothing worked.

So I decided to forget cribbing and sit back in my air conditioned car enjoying the music.

Today, there was tourist bus that came and had halted the traffic for around 10 minutes just because he was searching for a place to park.

He found one, but there was a cab standing at the entrance of that lane. He kept honking (really terrible) and our cabbie also seemed to be an inheritor of Rajnikanth. He put his foot down and decided not to move.

The entire area teamed up and thrashed our hero and his car. There were around 40 people who almost killed a man who wanted an equal right to disturb the law (too bad he was not a part of any committee).

This nuisance has been going on since generations and will continue this way.

First we said, United we stand, divided we fall.

Soon we will be saying - United we democratize, divided we are helpless.

Are the civic bodies here to help?

What happens when the civic bodies of this country unite?
UTTER NUISANCE

I would like to share this small incidence that happened this morning which showed a big hole in our systems.

I was driving down to office. The traffic at Mahalaxmi signal as usual was out of control of our honorable traffic police.

There was a BMC dump truck who was in the second lane and wanted to go left. He once turned right and I braked. Again he went to his left giving me way. Just as I got to overtake him, he again took a very drastic turn to his right throwing my car on the divider.

I went ahead and stopped my car in front of his truck. The dumb witted idiot rammed his truck into my car damaging my bumper.

I stopped him and we exchanged a few manly words. This happened at 9:45 this morning and the traffic was halted. The hawaldars there were busy doing I don't know what. After people started complaining the cops asked us to take the cars to the side. He just came, saw and asked us to go the Agripada Police Station.

There they made me wait for more than an hour informing me that this was not falling under their jurisdiction and I had to go to N.M. Marg police station.

The fun started when the inspector there said that it falls in the Agripada jurisdiction. They were kind enough to send a constable with us back to Agripada police station where the cops said that this falls under Tardeo police station.

That was not all, the BMC fellow walked off saying he was getting delayed for work (as if I were paid salary by my company only to take shit people these slaves). The Cops said "let them do what they want, this is not our business."

I then went to Tardeo police station where there inspectors we busy in some kind of a meeting (Whooha... I thought meetings were only for white collars). There was a constable to saw the car and said "Bas itna hai damage hai na?" (that damage was enough for me to pay his quarterly salary).

He said, "Come back after one hour. But this is not going to be easy. You will need to satisfy Sahab (inspector)."

I walked off from there and wrote to a couple of editors of the daily newspapers. But you know what, they all are together. You pay them a couple of millions and they will cover your story on their home page, irrespective of its credibility, if not they wont be interested in a genuine story.

So what do we have here?
Municipality, who does not give a f#*$ about others on the road.

Mumbai Police who doest not give a dam to work and all they need is a few thousands to sign on a piece of paper written in the local language.
Media, who is an equal partner in their crime.

Its very easy to move on and ignore these things and I guess eventually we all will be doing it. But this shows the strength of corruption and power of the civic bodies to keep matters numb.

Great going India.
